HYROX Simulation Recap: Full Race-Day Energy at CrossFit Sweat Shop in Walnut Creek

On May 3rd, 2026, CrossFit Sweat Shop hosted a full HYROX Simulation right here in Walnut Creek, and it was exactly what we hoped it would be: challenging, energetic, supportive, and just chaotic enough to feel like a real race day.

Big thanks to everyone who came out.

Whether you competed solo, raced as a pair, volunteered, cheered, judged, helped direct athletes, or simply showed up to support, we appreciate you.

Events like this only work when people show up with the right attitude, and this group absolutely did.

Athletes pushed hard. Volunteers kept things moving. Spectators brought the energy. And everyone handled the inevitable workout chaos like seasoned professionals.

That’s what makes a HYROX-style event so much fun.

What Is a HYROX Simulation?

A HYROX Simulation, or HYROX Sim, is designed to give athletes a race-style experience that closely mirrors the structure and demands of an official HYROX event.

Our simulation followed the standard HYROX format:

• 1K Run
• 1K Ski Erg
• 1K Run
• Sled Push
• 1K Run
• Sled Pull
• 1K Run
• Burpee Broad Jumps
• 1K Run
• Row
• 1K Run
• Farmer Carry
• 1K Run
• Walking Lunges
• 1K Run
• Wall Balls

It is a format that rewards endurance, strength, pacing, grit, and the ability to keep moving when things get uncomfortable.

For anyone searching for a HYROX race near me, especially in Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Martinez, or the surrounding East Bay area, events like this are a great way to experience the race format locally before committing to a larger official event.
