6️⃣ Tips to stay CONSISTENT with your workouts even when you can’t make it to the gym. ⏬⏬⁣

1️⃣ **Bodyweight Workouts**: Exercises that require no equipment, such as push-ups, squats, lunges, situps, and burpees. These can be done anywhere, and when combined can create a killer workout! ⁣
⁣
2️⃣ **Use Apps to Find Local Loops**: The All-Trails app is my favorite for finding trail runs where ever your travels may take you. It includes distance, elevation, difficulty, pictures and reviews. You can even use it during your run to make sure you stay on the correct path.⁣
⁣
3️⃣ **Pack Portable Equipment**: For even more variety, pack lightweight equipment like resistance bands, jump ropes, or even a yoga mat.⁣
⁣
4️⃣ **Prioritize Short, Intense Workouts**: High-intensity interval training or Tabatas are time-efficient and require minimal space, making them perfect for busy schedules or limited space.⁣
⁣
5️⃣ **Get Outdoors**: Activities like running, hiking, or swimming offer variety, fresh air, and mental health benefits, making them a great gym alternative. They also provide an opportunity to explore new areas you may travel to. If you’re in an urban area, find a parking garage a do some stair sprints!⁣

6️⃣ **Accountability and Tracking**: The Hawthorne Effect is real! Simply knowing an activity is being tracked or observed improves performance. Sweat Shop members have access to several apps (Strava, Whoop, and Beyond the Whiteboard) with the option to have your results visible to other gym members.

🏋️‍♀️✨ Meet Lones, our amazing 70-year-old athlete who just crushed it at the CrossFit Games finishing 6th in the WORLD for athletes 70+. Very few people make it to the CrossFit Games, and even fewer achieve this at age 60, and then again at age 70! 🌟 Her CONSISTENCY, DEDICATION, and LONGEVITY in fitness are truly inspiring.⁣ To top it off, it would be hard to find another athlete that had such a great attitude for the entire competition, truly enjoying and having FUN throughout her CrossFit Games experience. So proud of her and her coach @helenlangkilde for preparing her physically and mentally.

Juicy breasts, every time, guaranteed! Share this recipe ⤵️ with someone that struggles making tasty chicken breasts.⁣

Pro Tip #1️⃣Start with an acidic marinade. Lemon juice and some spices, or a vinaigrette dressing. Let chicken sit in marinade for at least a few hours, ideally overnight. ⁣
⁣
Pro Tip #2️⃣ When cooking on a propane grill, add a chunk or two of mesquite, hickory or pecan wood to give a little smoky flavor. Cook at low temp, 350-375 degrees. ⁣
⁣
Pro Tip #3️⃣ Chicken is fully cooked at 165 degrees. Use a digital meat thermometer to cook chicken to 160 degrees. Pull chicken off the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. Don’t cut it! Internal temperature will continue to rise to 165 and chicken will be fully cooked while remaining moist, and tender! ⁣

Pro Tip #4️⃣ use a sharp (NON-serrated) knife and cut the chicken against the grain. ⁣
⁣
Pro Tip #5️⃣ cook enough for several days, but don’t cut any of the extra. Wrap each one individually in foil and store in the fridge. When it’s to meal prep pull them out of the fridge and slice them while they are still cold! ❄️⁣

Here is everything I did this week prepping for Xterra Sprint Triathlon in Tahoe while simultaneously attempting to add 35-60lbs. on my 1 rep max bench press, back squat and deadlift.⁣

I only made it in for two workouts at the Sweat Shop, and didn’t get a single bike ride in, but the variety has been SUPER fun. Having a challenging goal has also kept me really motivated to stay consistent. This is honestly the first time in years that I’ve trained more than 5 days in a row. Also thank you @miles_.mccormick for introducing me to my new favorite trail run. @asicsrunning shoes for snatches, heavy deadlifts and back squats…I’m currently not sponsored but willing to consider. 😆

Billy is an absolute savage! Three years ago, he underwent surgery to address severe hip dysplasia. He jumped into CrossFit Sweat Shop towards the end of 2022, but it wasn’t until September 2023 when he really kicked it up a notch, dialing down on the booze and amping up on the protein. He’s got a solid system that keeps him locked in. Check it out: “My aim is four classes a week, but I never more than three classes in a row to avoid overdoing it, and never more than two days off in a row so I don’t lose my momentum.⁣

This is Estella. She just finished week one of our 6-Week Transformation Challenge. She’s already lost 5 lbs. by following the nutrition program. Everyone faces different obstacles. Estella works 16-hour shifts, but every time she makes it in to a workout, or meal preps something healthy to take to work, she’s building her confidence in herself and her ability to take control and make improvements in her life. ⁣
