Featured Athlete: Megan P.
For those that have noticed the skill and attention to detail of the handwriting on our Sweaty Swag board, and now our newly revamped Leaderboard, you may or may not know that it is compliments of Megan!
In addition to her awesome creativity and art skills, I’m super impressed by those like Megan (a NICU nurse at John Muir) who pull all-nighters and still have the energy and motivation to come into the Sweat Shop to workout! Read more about Megan below:
Name: Megan Jean Payawal
Q. How long have you been doing CrossFit?
A. I dabbled in crossfit back in 2011 for a few months but really started after completing On ramp in Jan 2014!
Q. What were you doing for exercise before CrossFit?
A. “Basic gyms” 24 hour fitness, Ballys, personal trainer after personal trainer…treadmills and stair steppers galore!
Q. How did you begin training at CrossFit Sweat Shop?
A. I had a crush on this guy and he convinced me to give crossfit another try and a few years later…the guy and crossfit are still around
Q. What has been the most significant benefit or change since you’ve been a member of the Sweat Shop?
A. CJ and I recently rejoined a local basic gym just to squeeze in some cardio when we were short on time and it amazed me how much my outlook has changed since my old pre-crossfit days! At the basic gym- I noticed I felt like the attitude was all about vanity, body fat, quad striations and the mirrors…
Q. What is your favorite workout or exercise?
A. Clean and jerk day is the best day!!!! I sing that every time it’s clean and jerk day!!
Q. What is your least favorite exercise or workout?
A. Thrusters. Period. And I love all things barbell but not these puppies.
Q. What is your favorite cheat meal/snack?
A. Movie theater popcorn. It’s almost impossible for me to go to the movies and smell it and not eat it!
Q. What advice would you give someone who is hesitant to try CrossFit?
A. It may not be for you, but you’ll never know until you try!
Q. What is your most sought after exercise goal?
A. Hmm. I’ve always wanted to try walking Grace! It’s legendary I hear…
Q. What do you enjoy doing outside of CrossFit?
A. I love food!! All things that involve yummy food…count me in! And going to the movies w Ceej! Our fave date night 🙂
Q. What is something you have recently purchased for less than $100 (or acquired for free) that you thoroughly enjoy and would recommend to others?
A. Wasn’t recent but life changing…my hydroflask sleeve! I drop that bomb of a water bottle all the time and man it sure helps soften the blow!
Q. Any advice you would give your 18 year old self?
A. Listen to your parents!
