After graduating San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Helen began working as the Fitness Manager for The Sports Club LA in San Francisco. After 6 years with the company, she came to the east bay and worked as the Wellness Director for Renaissance Club Sport Walnut Creek. It was here that she was first introduced to CrossFit from a fellow co-worker in 2008. She was attracted to the physical and mental challenges of the workouts. It also brought back her competitive drive that she had missed while playing competitive soccer for 16 years. In 2009, she competed on CrossFit Sweat Shop’s team for the Affiliate Cup at the CrossFit Games in Aromas, and then individually at the NorCal Sectionals in 2010. Knowing that she was hooked, she soon got her CF Level 1 certification. She continued her passion of coaching at Crunch Blackhawk, where she developed CrossFit based group training for the next 3 years. Helen competed for Team CrossFit Sweat Shop at Regionals in 2013 and 2015. She also competed in the Master’s Qualifier in 2016 and 2017. Helen made Sweat Shop her primary coaching location in 2015, where she currently coaches classes and trains private lessons.
