By far, my favorite part about coaching at the Sweat Shop, (besides brewing my own coffee for the morning classes), is witnessing all of you encourage and motivate each other during the tough workouts. Yeah, it’s great when you PR or achieve your own personal goals, but nothing beats seeing how the energy shifts through each of you during a super positive class. I’m sure you can all feel when the energy flows the greatest. Tuesday night at the 5:30 pm class was a perfect example. Ross (Ricky ROZAY), usually the quieter, more reserved Sweat Shopper was crushing push press. There was a ton of cheering and yelling going on and we got to see Ross a little out of his shell. You could see how the motivation from everyone really helped him. On the other side of the gym, 18-year old Daniel, also pretty reserved, started to match all of Ross’s values. Pretty soon, everyone left their rack and were cheering them on back and forth to keep going. After several PR’s the gym was full of energy. Everyone was jacked up ready to do the finisher. I know I definitely went into it a lot more excited and pushed way harder than I normally would because of it.
This is one of the cool benefits you get only from working out in a group. When you have someone pushing you to go harder, you usually do. When someone cheers you on, you usually do better. When the entire class gets wind of it all, it’s pretty special. Whether you are the person who creates the energy or the one who the one who feeds off of it, keep it flowing!
